As early as last year, TikTok has launched enhanced parental control features worldwide so that parents can ensure that their children have a safe experience on the platform. As part of the update, the Family Pairing feature also allows guardians to customize the security settings of the children’s accounts. The latest news is that after the enhancements in November last year, TikTok has now joined the Technology Coalition to intensify the fight against child abuse.
TikTok said in an official announcement that after joining the Technology Coalition, the platform will provide better protection for young users. The alliance aims to protect children from sexual exploitation or other forms of abuse, and TikTok will work with other members of the organization to promote child protection-related work.
Previously, TikTok often relied on external cooperation to resolve various problems on the platform, such as the recent cooperation with the National Eating Disorders Association (and Instagram) to encourage everyone to be more tolerant of their bodies.

In order to ensure the safety of children, TikTok has also reached cooperation with various organizations including the Family Online Safety Institute, ConnectSafely, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, WePROTECT Global Alliance, DQ Institute, and the Internet Watch Foundation.
As part of today’s policy update, TikTok reiterated some existing measures aimed at protecting young users, such as setting the accounts of minors between 13 and 15 years old as private by default, and only users over the age of 16 can initiate live broadcasts and Send private messages.
