Facebook has begun testing its audio social product Live Audio Rooms in Taiwan. This is part of the company’s expansion of its audio services, and in the future, Facebook audio services will also launch podcast hosting and authoring tools.
Last month, Facebook announced a comprehensive update of a series of audio services, among which Live Audio Room is a social chat application similar to Clubhouse that allows users to participate in group voice conversations. Over time, Facebook will expand the scope of Live Audio Room testing, and finally, launch the service in Facebook and Messenger applications this summer.
Initially, Facebook limited the scope of the test to a small number of public figures. Facebook also plans to introduce Live Audio Room into Facebook Groups. Currently, Facebook is integrating its “Stars” function (virtual currency) into the Live Audio Room, allowing fans to purchase tokens to support their favorites, just as they did on the live streaming platform Twitch.

App Annie data shows that from February 1 to 16 this year, the global downloads of this app increased from 3.5 million to 8.1 million.
