Apple’s 14/16-inch MacBook Pro will be unveiled at WWDC this year

Wedbush Securities Company analyst Daniel Ives said today that Apple will announce the long-rumored 14/16-inch MacBook Pro at the WWDC 2021 Developer Conference to be held in 5 days. In a memo to investors, Ives believes that WWDC 2021, in addition to the usually expected iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS version updates, Apple also prepared “some surprises”, including the new MacBook Pro.

The analyst had previously announced that the new 14/16-inch MacBook Pro will use the M1 chip. However, based on the information currently available, this may not be the case. The upcoming MacBook Pro has been rumored to include several new changes, such as canceling the Touch Bar, adopting a flatter design, returning to the HDMI port, SD card slot, and MagSafe magnetic charging. It is likely to use a more powerful M1 chip iteration. It might even be M2.

Reliable Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman believes that the new MacBook Pro may be announced as early as early summer this year, and it will be the highest-end Mac using Apple chips so far. Apple officially announced the transition to its own chips at WWDC last year and said it will take two years. Apple leaker Jon Prosser also believes that the new MacBook Pros, probably the new 14-inch and updated 16-inch models, will be released at WWDC.

In today’s investment memo, Ives reiterated previous predictions, including that the upcoming iPhone 13 series will have a 1TB capacity option. In addition, the analyst also reiterated a prediction that Apple plans to announce its AR glasses called Apple Glass at WWDC in 2022, and then launch Apple cars in 2024.
