Google will allow cryptocurrency wallets to advertise

Starting from August, Google, the world’s largest digital advertising seller, will allow companies to place cryptocurrency wallet advertisements. Google banned the advertising of cryptocurrency and related products in 2018, and Facebook has also issued a similar ban before.

But Google quickly lifted restrictions on digital currency transactions. Starting in August, as long as it passes Google’s certification process, the company will also allow digital wallet ads to be placed in search, YouTube and other company assets.

A Google spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday that the move is to better match the existing financial crime law enforcement network regulations and requirements. Google also mentioned in a blog post that the company still prohibits initial coin offering (ICO) advertising, and also prohibits advertising on services that aggregate or compare cryptocurrency issuers.
