Apple launched the iPad Pro equipped with an M1 processor and a mini-LED display, as well as a new 24-inch M1 iMac. However, it seems that upgrading the 21.5-inch iMac with Intel’s Core-i9 processor can bring Better performance.

YouTuber Luke Miani shared a video, he configured a 21.5-inch iMac equipped with an Intel Core-i9 processor, its performance successfully surpassed Apple’s latest 24-inch iMac equipped with an M1 processor. Currently, users can only buy a 21.5-inch iMac equipped with an Intel Core-i5 chip, but the machine initially also offered a version with a Core i7 processor.

Luke Miani’s 21.5-inch iMac was originally equipped with a Core-i3 8100 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage, and a Radeon Pro 555X graphics card. Miani upgraded the machine with a Core-i9 9900 processor and 32GB of RAM. This raises the price of the 21.5-inch iMac to $1,250. In more computing-centric tests, such as Cinebench, the Intel Core i9 scored 9,214, while the M1 iMac scored approximately 7,500. In the Blender rendering test, the M1 iMac took about 6 minutes to render a sample project, while the customized 21.5-inch iMac completed the rendering in 3 minutes and 30 seconds. However, it is worth noting that the Blender on M1 is run by Rosetta simulation, which may lead to insufficient performance compared with Intel iMac.
