iOS 14 is now installed on 90% of iPhones launched in the past 4 years

According to the latest iOS 14 adoption rate data shared by Apple, iOS 14 is now installed on 90% of iPhones launched in the past four years. Of the iPhones launched in the past four years, 8% run iOS 13, and 2% continue to run earlier versions of iOS. 85% of all iPhones (including those older than four years) are running iOS 14.

8% are still running iOS 13, and 7% are running an earlier version of iOS. Such devices include those that cannot run iOS 14. As for iPad OS, 91% of all iPads launched in the past four years run iPadOS 14, and 79% of all devices have the iOS 14 update installed.

Like the iPhone, some iPads in the “All Devices” category may not be able to run iOS 14. In fact, 12% of tablets in this category have iOS 12 or earlier installed, while 9% of tablets run iOS 13. Apple previously shared the latest iOS 14 installation data in February.

At that time, 86% of the iPhones launched in the past four years had iOS 14 installed, and 80% of all iPhones were running iOS 14. Therefore, with the release of iOS 14.5, the adoption rate of iOS 14 has continued to grow.

The latest iOS 14 adoption rate data was released before the 32nd annual WWDC conference when iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 will debut. After WWDC, Apple’s focus will shift from iOS 14 to iOS 15, because the company will improve and update the new version of the operating system before the fall release.
