iFixit released teardown video of M1 iPad Pro

iFixit repair experts have completed the initial disassembly of the M1 iPad Pro and made a key observation on the newly introduced mini-LED backlight of the 2021 model. Although the complete dismantling report has not been released yet, we can know in advance what subtle changes the mini-LED backlight has compared to the past few generations. It should be pointed out that the 11-inch M1 iPad Pro still uses a relatively ordinary screen, but the 12.9-inch M1 iPad Pro uses an XDR display based on the mini-LED backlight.

First of all, iFixit reports that: Compared with previous Apple tablets, the M1 iPad Pro’s opening process has not changed much. After the screen is properly heated, it can be carefully removed to avoid damaging the internal cable or other delicate components.

After removing the screen, iFixit found that the internal changes of the M1 iPad Pro are also quite subtle. For example, a 5G antenna can be seen near the frame, and the battery capacity is 40.33 watt-hours. If you look closely, you will find that the M1 iPad Pro uses a new front camera that has an ultra-wide field of view and supports the Center Stage function (which can keep the character in the center of the screen).

As for the mini-LED backlight assembly that everyone is most concerned about, iFixit also intimately introduced its working principle. It can be seen that the old iPad used a single-sided LED light strip to provide backlighting, but the new iPad Pro uses a small LED grid with a fairly dense dot matrix, which helps greatly enhance the picture quality and contrast.

As for more details in the follow-up, please wait patiently for iFixit to release the full version of the M1 iPad Pro teardown evaluation report.
