Microsoft pushes the stability patch again to prepare for the upcoming feature update

Some users who are running Windows 10 May 2021 feature update and previous versions have recently received a new reliability patch to prepare for the upcoming cumulative update or feature update. The update number is KB4023057, it was first introduced in 2018, and now Microsoft has released the patch again.

The Windows reliability patch is mainly to improve the Windows Update process and apply reliability improvements to the various services responsible for updating on your device. It will also try to make room on your computer to facilitate the upcoming monthly/feature updates.

Reliability updates are usually released when a major cumulative or feature update is coming, and support for a major Windows 10 version is about to end. By installing the KB4023057 reliability update on your device, Microsoft hopes to make the future update process more seamless.

It is also worth noting that the reliability update will install or update the “Microsoft Update Health Tools” on your device. Microsoft updated the health tool to the point that it should be able to solve the damage of Windows files, freeing up disk space by reducing the thumbnails of various pictures and cleaning up temporary files. In the support announcement, Microsoft explained that the patch can even analyze your network settings.

It was written in the announcement that Windows 10 May 2020 feature update (Version 2004) will be discontinued in May 2021. Therefore, Microsoft is likely to want to use reliability patches to push the latest feature updates to PCs more aggressively than ever. At the same time, the patch may be an upcoming feature update, such as the Sun Valley update released later in 2021, to improve those incompatible devices.
