GoPro released an open API program called Open GoPro

Today, GoPro released an open API program called Open GoPro, allowing third-party developers to integrate the HERO9 Black camera into their own App. With Open GoPro, developers can get the following API Application Programming Interface for HERO9 Black features, including:

  • Camera command and control
  • Camera status
  • Camera preview
  • SD card media file viewing and transfer
  • Developers can view demos and sample codes at GoPro.com/Open GoPro. No application or approval process is required.

The companies currently included in Open GoPro include:

  • Amazfit Huami Smart Watch: Use the touch screen of the Amazfit watch to wirelessly control your GoPro.
  • Centurion Boats: Control your GoPro wirelessly through the rudder control screen.
  • OrqaFPV drone flight glasses: Use the OrqaFPV.Connect application to wirelessly control the GoPro fixed on the FPV drone, and you can also check the camera status directly on the drone flight glasses.
  • Pixellot sports live broadcast: wirelessly control GoPro cameras and manage content transmission through Pixellot’s mobile platform.
  • Sena Bluetooth device: Use the built-in microphone of Sena Communications 50S and 50R headsets to voice control your GoPro, which is very suitable for motorcycles and other high wind noise applications.
  • For users, the corresponding functions of Open GoPro have been supported with the release of camera firmware v1.6 and can be applied to HERO9 Black from now on. Users can update through GoPro’s Quik app or GoPro’s official website.
