Microsoft does not allow users to move the Windows 11 taskbar

For many years, the taskbar and the “Start” menu have been the most iconic presence in the Windows operating system. Normally, the taskbar is fixed at the bottom of the screen. But if necessary, you can also try to move it to the top of the screen, or to the left and right sides.

However, in the newly released Windows 11 operating system, we regret to find that Microsoft has locked the taskbar similar to Windows 10X at the bottom center of the screen. Although most people are used to leaving the taskbar far away, for users who use multi-screen or ultra-widescreen displays, the hard limits of Windows 11 may bring greater inconvenience to the experience.

Prior to this, Microsoft has been giving users a wealth of customization options to support more personalized usage scenarios. However, the taskbar of Windows 11 is undoubtedly a step backward in the user experience.

The following are other changes that Microsoft has implemented for Windows 11:

  • People are no longer visible on the taskbar;
  • After upgrading to Windows 11, some icons (including customization) may disappear from the system tray;
  • The taskbar is only allowed to be centered at the bottom of the screen;
  • Users can no longer customize applications in the taskbar area.
