How to receive the first batch of Windows 11 version updates on non-qualified devices

In the previous article, we made how to bypass TPM 2.0 and SecureBoot in two ways to cleanly install Windows 11 on your device. Since Microsoft has not officially opened the mirror at present, this method is limited to the ISO mirror that was stolen before.

If you want to receive the Windows 11 system through the Windows Insider project, but find that the device does not meet the minimum standards, then there are corresponding handling tips. If you have already joined the Windows Insider project, when you try to upgrade your Windows 11 system, you may be told that your current device does not meet the latest standards, especially on old laptops, computers, or virtual devices.

Fortunately, Microsoft is providing a green channel for Windows Insider members, allowing users to install the development version of the operating system on non-standard hardware. However, there is a limitation, that is, you need to become a Windows Insider member before June 24. Now it is too late to get on the bus.

Even if you use incompatible hardware, you can still receive Windows 11 preview updates through the Insider program. However, you will be pushed to the Release Preview channel, which means that the frequency of receiving the new version will be less than the Dev channel.

  • Change the text in the UIBranch key to Dev

  1. Then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ WindowsSelfHost \ Applicability path
  • Change the text in the BranchName key to Dev
  • Change the text in the ContentType key to Mainline

Exit the registry editor and restart. You should find yourself in the Dev channel and ready to receive the first beta version of Windows 11 early next week.
