However, according to Google’s data, its usage has only soared steadily since the mid-1980s, which confirms the climate change in the past few decades. However, some terms are a bit deceptive and may not refer to heatwaves, Google pointed out. One example is the term “scorcher”, which currently means a particularly hot day. However, Google’s blog post on these search terms pointed out that the historical peak in the use of the term was due to its different meanings in the distant past, not because of a particularly hot summer.
