Google data shows what people searched for during rare heatwaves

Google used its big data to look at the search keywords used during the heatwave over the past few decades. Due to large-scale heat waves in parts of the United States and Canada, including some areas like the Pacific Northwest, where temperatures are usually mild and conditions are usually rainy, this topic will come.

Unsurprisingly, people who never knew what an air conditioner began to want an air conditioner. The summer in the United States kicked off with record-breaking high temperatures in many states, with many areas exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit for several days-including states that do not normally experience such high temperatures.

The Pacific Northwest is an example of severe heat damage, especially due to the lack of common appliances such as air conditioners in Washington and Oregon. As you might expect, Google’s search for air-conditioning has risen sharply, especially for air-conditioning installation services, at least according to Google’s data.

The company recently shared some insights about what people search for in the heatwave, noting that searches for air-conditioning installations have increased every summer for several years. Similarly, searches for the term “heatwave” are steadily increasing; using historical data from decades ago (including content from books and other printed media through Google Books), the term has been around since at least 1800 used.

However, according to Google’s data, its usage has only soared steadily since the mid-1980s, which confirms the climate change in the past few decades. However, some terms are a bit deceptive and may not refer to heatwaves, Google pointed out. One example is the term “scorcher”, which currently means a particularly hot day. However, Google’s blog post on these search terms pointed out that the historical peak in the use of the term was due to its different meanings in the distant past, not because of a particularly hot summer.
