M1X MacBook Pro models will be equipped with UHS-II SD card reader

After removing the SD card reader from the 2016 MacBook Pro series, it is reported that Apple has repeatedly brought back this slot in the upcoming redesigned version, which is expected to be launched later this year. One of the biggest changes in the new model of card readers is to start to support the UHS-II standard. This only means a substantial increase in data transmission speed.

The new data transfer speed of the UHS-II SD card reader may reach more than three times the speed of the standard SD card slot. According to popular YouTuber Luke Miani, Apple will introduce UHS-II SD card readers to the M1X MacBook Pro product line. The new standard allows 14-inch and 16-inch versions to support data transfer speeds of up to 312MB/s.

These speeds are three times that of standard SD card readers. Previously, the maximum read and write speeds of SD cards were mostly around 100MB/s. The three-fold increase is expected to calm the frustration of content creators and creative professionals (of course The SD card must also support the corresponding specifications).

Assuming that users of M1X MacBook Pro do not want to use SD card readers, it is said that these two redesigned machines will have USB 4 ports that support the Thunderbolt standard, so no matter which I/O interface it is, the data transmission speed is expected to be improved in an all-round way.

The only time Apple introduced UHS-II card readers was in the now discontinued iMac Pro and the newer 27-inch iMac. In addition to the new SD card reader, it is said that the M1X MacBook Pro model will not have a Touch Bar, but it is rumored that the HDMI port and MagSafe charging port will return. In addition, the mini LED screen will also make people amazing.

Mass production of the large-size M1X MacBook Pro will begin in the third quarter of 2021 and will be launched in the fourth quarter of the same year.
