Instagram launches security check service for users whose accounts are at risk of being stolen

Instagram today launched a new security check service for people whose accounts have been hacked. Users whose accounts have been compromised before will see a prompt when logging in, asking them if they want to start a security check.

This feature will guide users through security steps, including confirming other accounts that share login information, evaluating login activity, and keeping the recovery contact information updated. Instagram also plans to add support for two-factor authentication through WhatsApp, in addition to phone number confirmation and authentication password app options.

Instagram stated that the prompts in private messages are easily forged, so this method will not be used to prompt. The system only sends emails. Users can check whether the email address is authentic by checking the Email from the Instagram tab in the settings.

This simplified security feature was introduced in the recent wave of the password reset emails, which are legitimate emails from Instagram, or bots trying to access a bunch of accounts at the same time. If you receive several letters at a time, although it may seem annoying, it does not mean that the account has been hacked.
