Apple releases watchOS 7.6 to bring ECG and irregular heart rhythm notifications to 30 new regions

Apple today released watchOS 7.6, which is the sixth major update of the watchOS 7 operating system released in September 2020. watchOS 7.6 was released two months after watchOS 7.5 was released. The update of watchOS 7.6 can be downloaded for free through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone, go to General > Software Update.

To install the new software, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50% battery, it needs to be placed on the charger, and it needs to be within the Bluetooth connection range of the iPhone. According to Apple’s release notes, the watchOS 7.6 update adds support for ECG applications and irregular heart rhythm notifications to as many as 30 countries and regions.

No other new features were found during the test. As Apple is committed to the transition to watchOS 8, watchOS 7.6 is likely to be the last update of the watchOS 7 operating system.
