PS5 version of F1 2021 temporarily removes light chase support to ensure game stability

Codemasters’ new work F1 2021 has gained a good reputation after its release. The 1.04 version of the game has also been updated on PC and Xbox platforms recently. It fixes the problem that players will encounter damaged save files when editing vehicle paint. For PS5 players, the 1.04 version update was postponed until yesterday (July 20) before it went live, and the official temporarily closed the game’s ray tracing support in this update.

According to the patch details released on the official website of F1 2021, the game’s development studio was aware of the performance problems that occurred on the PS5 and concluded that these problems were caused by the game’s ray tracing.

In order to solve this problem, the team made the difficult decision to temporarily disable light chase to increase the stability of the game. Codemasters stated that their goal now is to enable ray tracing again as soon as possible and update as soon as everything is prepared. The Xbox Series X and PC versions of “F1 2021” will continue to have ray tracing, because currently, unknown performance issues seem to only appear in the PS5 version of the game.
