Apple’s new MagSafe battery pack teardown

Apple released the iOS 14.7 update to iPhone users on July 20, and the iPhone 12 series officially supports MagSafe external batteries. Currently, MagSafe external batteries are available in Apple Stores in many countries and regions around the world.

Yesterday, Charger Lab showed the internal structure of the MagSafe external battery on the YouTube channel. The MagSafe external battery has two charging coils inside, and a magnetic ring that can be connected to the iPhone 12 model.

In addition, there are two batteries connected together inside the MagSafe external battery, which operate in series to reach 11.13Wh at 7.62V. Charger Lab pointed out that each battery is 5.733Wh. There is a metal plate on the back of the MagSafe external battery to help dissipate heat. Under the front heat shield, there is also a chip that allows MagSafe to run on an external battery.
