Instagram extends the duration of the Reels

The trend of brevity that has dominated the social world in recent times would seem to have given way to the need for a longer duration of video content, felt not only by users but by the creators themselves.

One of the first to take this direction was TikTok, which has recently introduced the possibility of recording videos that are three minutes long (from an initial limit of 30 seconds, later brought to a minute) to give its users the possibility of incorporating in the post as much information as possible, thus diversifying their business.

But given that there is no social evolution without mutual contamination between giants, here comes the response from Instagram without delay: Mark Zuckerberg’s platform has extended the maximum duration of its Reel, the short clips that follow the TikTok model, to one minute: exactly double what was granted until recently. The announcement of the novelty arrived yesterday with a post published by the company itself on Twitter.

At the time of their debut, now a year ago, the Instagram Reels lasted a maximum of 15 seconds, later extended to 60. Who knows that in the future we will not arrive at even longer clips, to the delight of creators who aim to gain more expressive space with richer and more articulated contents.
