Spotify redesign the mini player following the current trend

Spotify has always been a sort of construction site even in a stable version and the latest redesign renews the mini player to align with the current trend that wants more color and more rounded corners.

The new mini player now floats above the remaining content on the screen, however with the smoothing of the corners the album cover becomes a bit smaller than before, plus the track progress bar migrates downwards. Song and artist names appear as before, as do classic buttons, but under the mini-player, the tab navigation now sports a gradient background.

Another neat aspect of this redesign is that the mobile mini-player now changes color to match the album cover being played. While it’s not a monumental design update, these changes give the mini player and navigation tabs a more contemporary style.

As for the implementation, the changes are still in the testing phase, but there are all signs to make us believe that soon the new mini player will be distributed more widely to Spotify users. A couple of days ago Spotify added a feature that allows you to find new releases right away.
