Google Photos adding the Memories widget to Android

In June, evidence emerged that the Google Photos app for Android was preparing to add a new widget dedicated to user memories. This feature has been available in the iOS version of the app since last year, but now it appears that Google has finally started rolling out the Your Memories widget to some Android users running version 5.52.0.0387241369 of the Google Photos app.

The Your Memories feature offers a series of automatically generated photo albums that appear at the top of the Photos tab within the Google Photos app. Thanks to the new widget, Android users can now see them on their home screen.

The widget has a default 2 × 2 sizes that can be changed and is similar to the carousel of memories shown within the Google Photos app. Currently, this widget only shows memories related to This week and 1 year ago, but it is likely that new categories such as Best of the month, Travel Highlights, Celebrations, etc. will arrive. At the moment the Your memories widget has not yet been widely distributed, but you can try to check if it is available for your smartphones by updating the Google Photos app.
