Sony wants to develop console-quality 3A games for PSVR2

New details of PSVR2 were leaked at a developer conference. The YouTube channel PSVR Without Parole broke the news that Sony held a 90-minute closed-door developer summit for PSVR2 developers earlier this week. Later, some sources of Upload VR confirmed that Sony had indeed held this conference.

PSVR Without Parole said that Sony is obsessed with giving up the VR experience and focusing on console-quality 3A games. This means that we will see more games like Hitman 3 or No Man’s Sky with optional VR mode. When the game is released, Sony wants players to download the regular version or the VR version. It is also said that Sony is vigorously advancing the re-engraving of PSVR games for PSVR2.

It is reported that Sony has announced in detail multiple specifications of the PSVR2 headset, code-named NGVR (Next-Generation VR), including the previously leaked resolution of 4000×2080 pixels (each monocular is 2000×2040). PSVR Without Parole also broke the news that PSVR2 uses a Fresnel OLED screen with a field of view of 110 degrees, which is 10 degrees more than the original PSVR and 20 degrees more than Quest 2.

PSVR2 can flexibly scale the resolution (FSR) and focus the rendering resources on the player’s focus area. This should not be confused with pit rendering, because it is an independent process that can be used in conjunction with the confirmed eye-tracking technology.

When you combine FSR and pit rendering, it will greatly reduce the pressure on PS5 resources. These technologies, and other technologies that have not been widely discussed, will help PSVR2 games look better than VR games. In addition to the previously confirmed adaptive trigger, the PSVR 2 controller will also include capacitive touch sensors for the thumb, index finger and middle finger. It is said that the controller can track the sensor distance of the player’s finger.

Finally, PSVR Without Parole said that Sony will announce the release details of PSVR2 early next year. Earlier this week, Digital Foundry said that they have seen the technical specifications of PSVR2, which is very strong.
