The Material You of Android 12 makes space in the settings of Gboard and beyond

Following the Gboard update earlier this week which saw the introduction of the new section dedicated to emojis, stickers and GIFs, the 9to5google team managed to activate some interesting new features relating to the famous Google keyboard via code.

The most important news is the even more massive presence of elements related to Material You, or the new design of the entire Android 12 interface that will radically change the experience of using the operating system and all installed applications.

From the numerous images in the gallery, it is possible to notice the arrival of a new design regarding the pop-up that can be activated following a long press on a letter on the keyboard. The circular geometric shape takes the place of the classic rectangular one, while a small graphic addition now allows you to continue to display the tapped key instead of making it disappear.

Google has decided to extend the circular shape also to the emoji shortcut key to the left of the space bar while tapping to its right there is a new panel design for the choice of some special characters. Several new features have also been introduced at the level of the Theme panel of Gboard and specifically as regards the highlighting of the new themes available.

As we said, all the innovations described have been activated locally via code: we have no idea when they will be available to everyone but at least we know what to expect for the next update.
