Samsung submitted a trademark called SmartView+ for smart phone streaming to large-screen devices

Samsung fans are eagerly looking forward to next Wednesday, August 11, the biggest Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event of the year will be held. The opening conference is expected to launch Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldable smartphones, as well as Galaxy Watch 4 (classic) and Galaxy Buds 2. When introducing these new products, Samsung will also discuss all new features and services. For example, Samsung now plans to bring new capabilities to its SmartView smart viewing service.

The SmartView feature with a companion application was first introduced in 2011, allowing users to connect Samsung mobile phones to the TV. In this way, the smartphone can be used as digital remote control. Although this service still exists, the supporting apps have been removed from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store last year. As an alternative, users can use Samsung’s SmartThings application to accomplish this task.

Nevertheless, Samsung seems to want to reinvigorate this application. On August 5, 2021, Samsung Electronics applied to the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) for the SmartView+ trademark in South Korea. The application is classified as Category 9 and the instructions are as follows:

Samsung SmartView+ trademark description: computer application software used to transmit videos, movies, pictures, images, text, photos, games, user-generated content, audio content and information from mobile phones or computers to TVs via the Internet and other communication networks. Electronic blackboard or digital signage.

As you can see from the description, this is a smartphone application that can stream multimedia content such as music, videos, and photos to the TV. The’+’ sign seems to indicate that the application will provide more features than before. The new application can also make it possible to share playlists of music or videos.

At present, it is still unclear when SmartView Plus will be officially announced, but we may of course hear more about it when the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 are officially announced next Wednesday. Samsung currently relies heavily on an ecosystem in which multiple products from the brand can work together seamlessly.
