It was February when Samsung claimed to guarantee at least four years of security updates to smartphones launched starting from 2019, updates that however would vary in terms of frequency between high-end and non-high-end devices.
Of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G the speech does not change, smartphones for which the transition to Android 12 is expected in 2022, to Android 13 the following year, up to Android 14 in 2024 (or so there), with the related new versions of the custom graphical interfaces (One UI).
If these major updates will be distributed annually, the security updates have a monthly frequency as usual, which means receiving the latest patch every month at least for the first three years, after which the frequency should be quarterly, so up to August 2025.
After these four years, it is difficult to predict what will happen, but considering what has happened previously, we cannot rule out the arrival of additional security patches from time to time. This is what is expected based on Samsung’s current update policies.
