Currently there is no plan to bring XGP to other closed platforms such as Switch

Several years ago, there were rumors that Microsoft’s Xbox application and Xbox Game Pass were about to land on the Switch, but there was no official confirmation. In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft’s Xbox, said that Xbox Game Pass may not be available on Switch or any other non-Microsoft game consoles soon. The reason is simple-the other party doesn’t want it. At present, the focus will be on open platforms such as PCs, mobile devices, and browsers.

What I want to say is, I hope we can provide a complete Xbox experience. We currently have no plans to bring (Xbox App) to any other types of closed platforms, mainly because these closed platforms don’t want things like Xbox Game Pass. There are a large number of open platforms for our development: web, PC and mobile devices. So frankly, all our attention is focused on these platforms. This is not an attack on anyone. I can understand why Xbox Game Pass is not what they want now.

Finally, when we say that we want everyone to be able to play games on Xbox, what we really mean is that if we can bring the complete experience to the devices players want, we are completely open to these discussions.

Xbox Game Pass is a game subscription service launched by Microsoft. Players can play hundreds of games included in the service during the subscription period, but except for some first-party games from Microsoft, the rest of the games are on the shelves. By the time limit, when the game is removed from the Xbox Game Pass service, players will no longer be able to play for free, so the service is more suitable for playing one-time pass-type games.
