The new version of Snipping Tool for Windows 11 getting started

In addition to the calculator and Mail & Calendar applications, Microsoft is now inviting members of the Windows Insider project of the Dev channel to test the newly launched screenshot tool. This tool combines the advantages of the classic version of Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch and is simply called Snipping Tool. This brand new Snipping Tool visually optimizes WinUI controls to fit the appearance and user experience of the Windows 11 system.

All Windows systems have a built-in Windows screenshot shortcut and screenshot utility, so as to capture a certain area of the screen, add markers and save operations. A few years ago, Microsoft decided to terminate the development of the classic version of the Snipping Tool and issued a related notice in the application. Then Microsoft focused on its successor Snip & Sketch.

After relaxing the WinUI API in the Windows 11 system, Microsoft adjusted the direction again, indicating that the classic Snipping Tool will become a part of the Snip & Sketch tool. On Windows 11, the classic Snipping Tool and Snip & Sketch applications are now called Snipping Tool, and the overall functionality remains unchanged.

Use keyboard shortcuts or use Windows Search to open the new version of Snipping Tool. Click the Mode drop-down menu and select the desired shape. When the screen becomes dark, you need to drag a box around the screen/application/document area where you want to take a screenshot. When finished, release the mouse button and the clip will appear in the Snipping Tool (previously called Snip & Sketch).

From there you can add symbols using pens and highlighters etc. This new screenshot tool represents the best of the two applications, and users will have access to all functions. Therefore, Windows 11 provides a better screenshot and screenshot experience than Windows 10. As part of the update, Microsoft also enabled rounded corners, Fluent Design and new icons for the app.
