Chrome optimized incognito mode page

Due to the recent lawsuits in spying on personal browsing privacy, Google today updated and adjusted the new tab page in the incognito mode of the Chrome browser for Windows and Android platforms. This adjustment omits the first paragraph of the text description that includes browsing privacy. The description is mainly to inform you that when you close the hidden tab/window, the search history will be deleted.

Incognito Mode or Private Browsing helps users prevent their activities from being seen by others when sharing their devices. When you log out of incognito, the browsing history and cookies you entered in the form will be cleared. However, bookmarks and downloads will be retained. Incognito mode is not true privacy. You can still be tracked by websites and advertisers. If you try to bypass their paywall, some websites will detect your browsing in incognito mode.

The redesigned incognito page can be seen first in the Android version of Chrome Canary when you enable the experimental Flag of the revised incognito new tab page. This will eventually enter Windows, Linux, Mac, Chrome OS and iOS versions.

  • Comparing the current page and the revised page, the following changes can be found.
  • The first paragraph tells Now you can browse privately, other people using this device will not see your activities…, this paragraph has been deleted.
  • The updated user interface displays What Incognito can do and What Incognito does not do parts.
  • Cookies and website data have been replaced by Your search history on this device.
  • The switching card that blocked third-party cookies has been deleted.
