Windows 11 error destroyed Windows built-in security apps but can be repaired manually

Windows 11 is still in the testing phase and it is plagued by various problems. According to user reports, Microsoft recently released a problematic update that seems to have caused some serious problems with the Windows Security application, which is used to manage Windows Defender and other security features.

Windows 11 Build 22000.160 or earlier is causing Windows Security to display an error message saying You need a new application to link to this windows defender. Although users can still view the antivirus, firewall, and protection status, some people can no longer turn on different protection features, such as account protection, firewall and network protection, application and browser control, etc.

  • I can’t open Windows Security on Build 22000. Attempting to do so will display a message prompting me to look for an application in the store, one user wrote in the feedback center.
  • Any click under Protected Area will prompt this message. With the option of Looking for an application in the Microsoft Store, Another user explained the problem in the feedback center.

To fix an error message, an application will be needed to open the windows defender link. Performing these steps can alleviate the current error:

  • Open Windows PowerShell from the search or start menu with administrator privileges.
  • Copy and paste and execute the following command: Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage.
  • Close the PowerShell window.
  • Once completed, you will be able to launch the Windows security application again.

Other Known Issues In Windows 11

Microsoft is investigating a report of a problem, and testers in the Beta channel will not see the new taskbar and start menu. To solve this problem, go to Windows Update> Update History, and uninstall the latest cumulative update. After the patch is removed, you can reinstall it by checking for updates.

Similarly, Windows 11 is also plagued by the following problems:

  • It may not be possible to enter text in the search window.
  • When switching input methods, the taskbar will flash.
  • When using the search box, the settings application crashes.
  • Bluetooth LE devices will experience an increase in Bluetooth reliability issues.
  • The Windows Gadget Panel may not work properly.
  • These issues will be fixed in the coming weeks before the release in October 2021.
