Spotify launches playlists shared between two people

Despite Spotify’s tremendous success, its team of developers continues to work hard to make this multimedia streaming service ever richer with the aim of ensuring each user enjoys a highly personalized experience.

In the past few hours, with a post on the official blog, the Spotify team announced that it has kicked off the release of an already anticipated and long-awaited feature: we are talking about Blend, which is a solution that will allow a user to create a personalized playlist from share with your best friend.

Launched in beta at the beginning of June, Blend Playlists was designed as a feature that is able to allow two users to combine their musical tastes into a single shared playlist created just for them, all with the aim to make connections and the discovery of other people’s musical tastes easier.

Blend now also includes new cover art to easily identify each of your playlists, taste match scores to see your listening preferences versus those of your friends, and shareable data stories unique to each listening pair (can also be shared on channels social).

If we have piqued your curiosity and you want to take advantage of this new feature, here are the steps to follow:

  • tap Create Blend in the Made for You hub on your mobile device.
  • Tap “Invite” to select a friend to join Blend via messaging.
  • When the friend accepts, Spotify generates custom covers and a list of songs with songs that combine the preferences and listening tastes of both.
  • You can share your blends on social channels by tapping “Share this story” at the bottom of the data story screen.
  • The blend is also available for free Spotify users but those subscribers will be able to count on more customization possibilities.
