A long-awaited feature is coming to Google Chrome

If you usually use Google Chrome as a web browser on Android, you will certainly know that you can activate desktop mode using the appropriate button in the side menu that can be activated from the hamburger menu at the top right.

Interesting news related to Chromium Gerrit reveals that the Google development team is working on the implementation of a quick toggle to keep the desktop mode active while browsing with Google Chrome on Android.

The commit titled [DesktopSite] Add flag for Request Desktop Site Global Setting adds a flag called Global setting to request desktop site on Android with the description an option in ‘Site settings’ to persistently request the desktop version of websites Which, in fact, does what is stated a few lines further up.

As XDA colleagues point out, the flag mentioned above is already available on Google Chrome Canary but the change made to Chromium Gerrit by Google programmers has added the new option in the Site Settings that was not present so far.

The ability to browse a website in desktop mode is often very useful in some situations, although modern websites are designed to offer users the most complete user experience possible. Finally, the feature will be very useful for smartphones as tablets with 10-inch displays already open sites in desktop mode by default.
