Pixel 6 Pro’s regulatory label shows Google has increased its wired charging speed to 33W

The next generation of Pixel phones will not charge as slowly as previous models. Since the original Pixel in 2016, Google has provided an 18W USB-C charger in the box of every Pixel phone. Like Apple and Samsung, Google has been reluctant to provide faster chargers but chose to stick to the same 18W USB PD charger year after year. This year, with the launch of Pixel 6 Pro, this situation may change, because XDA confirmed that at least one model supports 33W wired charging.

Last month, leaker Yogesh Brar said that the upcoming Pixel 6 series will support 33W charging, so this may not be the first time you have heard of this. However, this is the first time we have reported it because the evidence presented in the report is a bit inadequate. The leakers claimed that their Google sources found 33W charging heads at the company’s headquarters in Mountain View, but they did not clearly confirm whether these chargers were actually used in the new Pixel phones.

In addition, the leaker did not have an established record when it came to Pixel’s leaks, so we were hesitant to believe his words. But now we can confirm that he can access the real Pixel 6 Pro, this phone will indeed support 33W charging. Many countries and regions have regulatory agencies that supervise the sales of electronic products with communication functions. Without their approval, mobile phone manufacturers cannot use certain radio frequency bands to provide mobile phone products to the public.

In the United States, this process is supervised by the Federal Communications Commission, while in Taiwan, the corresponding regulatory agency is NCC. When certifying the use of the Pixel 6 Pro in Taiwan, Google seems to have to submit the supported charging speed of the phone. The charging speed supported by the phone will appear in Settings>About the phone or the regulatory tab on the box.

In the image, we can see the regulatory label that certifies that Pixel 6 Pro is used in Taiwan, China. On the right, we can see the certification document on the NCC website (currently edited). At the bottom of the regulatory label, we can see that Pixel 6 Pro will support the following charging speeds. 5V/3A (15W), 9V/2A (18W), 9V/3A (27W), and 11V/3A (33W).

Below you can also see the regulatory labels for all 3 models of Pixel 6 Pro. Only one of these models has passed the NCC certification, so we can’t clearly confirm whether other models will also support 33W charging. However, the charging speed between these 3 models is unlikely to be different, so it can be assumed that they will all support 33W charging.

No matter what model you buy or where you live, Google will not provide a 33W charger in the box of Pixel 6 or 6 Pro, but the company may sell a 33W charger separately, although we don’t know it. What is the price? There are rumors that Google will also sell a new Pixel wireless charging stand when the Pixel 6 is released; according to a list of retail databases discovered by AndroidPolice last month, the new wireless charger may provide 23W wireless charging speed.
