Apple will fix the issue that iPhone 13 users cannot unlock with Apple Watch

Apple said today that the issue that prevented some iPhone 13 users from using the Apple Watch unlock function will be fixed in an upcoming software update. In a supporting document, Apple stated that affected users can temporarily turn off unlocking with Apple Watch and use their password to unlock their iPhone 13 until the software update is released.

This function can be switched off under Face ID & Passcode in the settings application. Apple did not specify which software update will include fixes, nor did it provide a detailed timetable. The first beta version of iOS 15.1 was released five days ago, and Apple may also choose to release a minor update to iOS 15.0.1 with bug fixes.

As we have reported, affected users may see the error message Cannot communicate with Apple Watch when they try to unlock iPhone 13 while wearing a mask, or they may not be able to set up unlocking with Apple Watch.
