Samsung Galaxy S21 latest update in South Korea adds support for digital car keys

Some car manufacturers have been working hard to integrate the use of digital keys with their new cars. With the digital key, the car owner does not need to put a keychain in his pocket or put the key on the ignition to start the car and operate the car. One of the coolest parts of the digital key function is that it makes it easier to share the vehicle with others.

In addition to vehicles that support digital keys, car owners also need a smartphone that supports this function. Samsung has launched an October patch for the Galaxy S21 series of devices. The patch is currently being rolled out in Germany, the Philippines, India and South Korea. Samsung first talked about adding the digital key function at the Samsung Unpacked event, and it is expected that it will also be launched in the United States and other countries.

Currently, the digital key function is only available in Korea. However, after enabling this feature, users can register compatible car keys to Samsung Pass. This function is applicable to certain Audi, BMW, Genesis and Ford cars. The digital key function can lock and unlock the door, start the engine, and start driving.

The digital key update was first introduced in South Korea, indicating that Samsung is slowly introducing this feature. Although the October security update can now be used in other countries, the update will have a different firmware number and content depending on the country. In other updated regions, the firmware is G99*BXXU3AUIE, while in Korea, the firmware ends with AUG.
