Buy full-price games, Google will provide Stadia gaming hardware for free

If you buy a regular Stadia game, Google will give away a free Stadia Premiere Edition kit. This hardware package includes a Chromecast Ultra and Stadia controller, provided that a full price game ($59.99 or more) is required to be eligible for this offer. Google’s free offer will last until 11:59PM PT on October 10, and the code will be issued before October 20.

The free Stadia Premier Edition discount will be implemented in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Austria and Switzerland. Google usually sells its Stadia Premiere Edition for $79.99.

This is not the first time Google has given away free Stadia hardware. In November last year, Google began to give away the Stadia Premiere Edition suite to YouTube premium subscribers. If you bought Cyberpunk 2077 on Stadia during the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, Google also gave away the Stadia Premiere Edition kit. Recently, Google also gave the same hardware package to users who bought Resident Evil: Village.

Although Google insists that it is still committed to Stadia, many people doubt how long the service will survive in its current form. Google decided earlier this year that it did not want to be a game company or develop its own games. This led to the departure of some well-known creators throughout 2021, including Google’s game director who left the position of the Google Cloud team last month.

Google now defines Stadia as a technology platform for industry partners, which means that the service may eventually be transformed into a third-party cloud gaming service. Although Google’s Stadia is in trouble, the service has been improving this year. Google recently cut its revenue share for developers, added direct touch-screen control options, and launched Stadia for Chromecast and Google TV.
