Microsoft Office 2021 retail version released today for Windows and macOS

Microsoft today launched a new retail perpetual version of Microsoft Office for consumers and businesses, together with Windows 11. Office 2021 is the successor to Office 2019, and it brings new features and improvements to the popular productivity suites on Windows and macOS.

Office 2021 is a standalone version of the Microsoft Office suite, specifically aimed at consumers and small businesses who do not want to purchase Microsoft 365 subscriptions. It is also suitable for customers who have PCs that do not have a stable Internet connection or cannot get feature updates.

The latest version of Office is also equipped with Microsoft Teams to help users get in touch with their friends, family and colleagues. This is part of the company’s efforts to push more users to adopt Teams’ consumer features, which can also be seen in Microsoft’s just-released Windows 11 operating system, which includes a new chat application driven by Teams’ consumer experience program.

Office 2021’s new features for consumers and business customers include a new real-time co-authoring feature that allows users to collaborate with others on the same file. Office applications have also received a new visual experience, including neutral colors, modernly designed ribbon interface, rounded corners, etc.

Microsoft said that Office 2021 is compatible with Windows 11, Windows 10 and the three latest macOS versions. The Office 2021 Home and Student Edition is priced at $149.99. The package includes Microsoft Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote. The price of Office Home and Enterprise 2021 SKU is US$249.99, and the bundle includes the same Office applications and Microsoft Outlook.
