EA upgraded the digital standard version of Battlefield 2042 PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and now also includes the previous generation version. This cross-generation bundle will allow players to play Battlefield 2042 on PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Prior to this, this permission was limited to the Gold Edition or Ultimate Edition.
EA explained that this was because they realized that for many people, next-generation hardware is still difficult to buy. We want as many Battlefield fans as possible to start their journey on the day of its release. We want to give these players peace of mind: their progress can be inherited if they can buy a new console during or after the Christmas holidays.

Battlefield 2042 PS4/Xbox One Digital Standard Edition is priced at US$59.99, and PS5/Xbox Series X|S Version is priced at US$69.99. Today’s announcement means that if PS4 and Xbox One players want to buy a new console in the future, they can spend an extra $10 to play Battlefield 2042 on both the new and old consoles.
