Future AirPods can monitor body temperature and posture and can be used as hearing aids

According to the Wall Street Journal report, Apple is developing AirPods with health features, including body temperature and posture monitoring, and the ability to be used as a hearing aid. According to documents seen by The Wall Street Journal, a prototype of AirPods with a temperature sensor is currently being developed to monitor the wearer’s core body temperature from inside the ear. The report pointed out that these in-ear temperature sensors can work in conjunction with the temperature sensors in the Apple Watch 8 series.

According to reports, the health-conscious AirPods also use motion sensors to monitor the wearer’s posture and remind them when they are lazy, in an effort to improve their posture or arrange a break-in time.

Apple released the Dialog Enhancement feature of AirPods Pro last week, which can increase the volume and clarity of the person directly in front of the wearer. It is unclear whether the new hearing aid function that Apple is exploring is an extension of dialogue enhancement or a completely different hearing aid-specific function. AirPods already have microphones, amplifiers and processors, which provide the basis for the final realization of hearing aid functions.

However, AirPods may not be suitable as hearing aids for some patients with extensive hearing loss because they cannot provide full-day battery life. (Degree of hearing loss) regulations will be expanded, which may pave the way for Apple to explicitly sell AirPods as hearing aids.

A person who is said to be familiar with Apple’s plan told the Wall Street Journal that AirPods with health features are not expected to be launched in 2022, and may never be released.
