New small change in sight to make Google Lens smarter

At the end of last month, on the occasion of the Search On 2021 event, the Google team announced some important news that over the next year will be implemented in Google Lens, a service in which the Mountain View giant is particularly interested. But the Google Lens developer team is also committed to continuous improvement of the current service and confirmation comes from the 12.41 beta version of the Google App intended for Android-based devices.

The Google Lens team has decided to go back to the past

With this version of the application, a small change is introduced which allows users to easily re-analyze images with a different filter. In reality, this change represents a sort of willingness of the developers to retrace their steps compared to a change introduced in the summer: after analyzing an image, Google Lens shows a new carousel above the bottom sheet that allows users to switch to different filters.

Google has offered contextual action suggestions in the latest design but the new change gives access to all available filters and this solution is similar to the previous version introduced in July, which featured an expandable row of icons. In the following image gallery you can see a comparison between the old Google Lens (first two screenshots), the current version and the one with the change just made:

This solution aids in image reanalysis and does not require users to take another photo if the original capture was not helpful. At present this change is present in the 12.41 beta version of the Google App, which can be downloaded from APK Mirror while there is no information on when it could be implemented for all users in a stable release of the application.
