WhatsApp and Google take another step forward to improve the chat history transfer function from iOS-based smartphones to those using the green robot operating system. After the introduction of this useful feature last August for a limited number of Android devices – in fact only the foldable Samsung, Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 – Google announced in the past few hours that it is also possible to use it with:
- All Pixel smartphones
- All-new Android 12 based smartphones
Starting today, you can securely transfer chat history and memories from your WhatsApp account on iPhone to Android. We worked closely with the WhatsApp team to create a new set of features, all designed to make it easy to switch from iPhone to Android and take your WhatsApp history with you.
It does not change the procedure to complete the operation that requires a simple connection between the two devices using a USB-C/Lightning cable. When configuring the Android smartphone, you will be asked to scan a QR code on the iPhone to start WhatsApp and start transferring all chats, including multimedia content. Google ensures that it has collaborated with WhatsApp to ensure that the data remains protected during the transfer:

Our team has worked closely with WhatsApp to ensure that your data remains secure during the transfer process so that no one else can ever access your WhatsApp information and files. The WhatsApp history will simply be copied from your iPhone to your new Android smartphone and we will automatically make sure that you do not receive any new messages on the old device while the transfer is in progress.
An extension of the number of supported devices is certainly welcome, which favors those who today choose a smartphone with pre-installed Android 12. It is not excluded that in the future other Android devices may also benefit from it, but for now, Google has nothing to say about it.
