Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro allow you to disable 2G

In addition to the focus on all the functions of the Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro cameras, Big G has decided to also focus on the security functions of the two devices, based on the software and hardware of the Google Tensor SoC.

The starting point is the new Tensor security core, described as a custom-designed security subsystem including a dedicated CPU, ROM and OTP (one-time-programmable) memory, crypto engine, integrated SRAM and protected DRAM.

This core is described as logically and physically distinct from the application processor. Put simply, Google’s Pixel 6s use this new Tensor security core to protect running user data keys, improve secure boot, and communicate with the new Titan M2 security chip.

Titan M2 is the second-generation security chip from the Mountain View house with a proprietary processor based on RISC-V architecture. Fully designed and developed by Google, Titan M2 provides greater speed, more memory and resilience to advanced attacks.

Otherwise, Tensor uses ARM’s TrustZone technology, while Trusty OS is the trusted open-source environment for TrustZone and Tensor security core. Alongside the new Security Hub, Privacy Dashboard and toggles that show when camera and microphone are in use, Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro allow you to improve security by disabling less secure 2G connections, just go to: Settings> Network and Internet > SIM. The only exception is emergency calls. All without forgetting Google Play Protect.
