Android 12 has been officially released, it brings a lot of new features and improvements, including UI changes, privacy protection and a wallpaper-based theme system. But in addition to all these upgrades and improvements, Android 12 has reduced an important feature: use the phone’s volume keys to control the volume of video/audio casting (cast) devices.

Google said it temporarily disable the remote volume key events (projected) played in Android 12 and will re-enable it in the Android 12L. As for why the feature was initially disabled, Google said it was due to legal issues, but it could not say publicly.

In other words, when the user casts audio and video to remote speakers, TVs, etc., the Android 12 device will not be able to adjust the current playback volume through its own volume keys and needs to be adjusted on the speakers and TV.
Google disabled the volume key event from the system side, so there may not be another solution. If you have upgraded to Android 12, you can try it to see if domestic manufacturers have made some changes.
