Windows 11 blocks third-party browser tools without Edge

With the establishment of the Windows 11 system status, Microsoft is also increasing its support for Windows 11, and by the way, it is also pushing some of its own applications, such as the Edge browser. Changing the default browser in Win11 is already very troublesome. Now Microsoft has further blocked the third-party tool Edgedeflector in Win11 Build 22494, causing many people to open the URL and cannot use their default browser.

Microsoft’s Edge browser is very good now, but many people also have their favorite browsers. In order to push their own browsers, Microsoft will force their own Edge browsers to be called when opening the links of built-in applications in the system, such as news, Links in applications such as interests.

So users have come up with a third-party application Edgedeflector, which can change the mandatory Microsoft-edge: URI protocol and call the user’s own default browser instead of the Edge browser. For example, you can use Chrome or Firefox to open the link of the built-in software.

However, Microsoft recently launched the Win11 Build 22494 system. users found that the Edgedeflector software has failed. Obviously, Microsoft does not like this tool. Now it points to its own Edge browser. Users can no longer customize their own browsers.

Microsoft’s doing so also affected other browsers. Firefox also confirmed that Microsoft had broken this agreement after updating Win11. They stated that users should be given choices. It is necessary to easily set up their favorite browsers and to respect the wishes of users.

What Microsoft is even more exaggerated is that even if you uninstall the Edge browser, you cannot prevent their mandatory binding. Opening this type of agreement will still bring up Edge. At this time, Microsoft will raise the error message, and even so, it will not let you call the default browser.

Regarding Microsoft’s decision, Edgedeflector also issued an article criticizing that before Microsoft resumed the previous agreement, they also decided not to update Edgedeflector in protest. Now it depends on whether Microsoft will give in due to this.
