Google has a plan to integrate iMessage reactions into Messages

If you have an Android smartphone and you are part of a group chat with a friend with an iPhone inside who uses iMessage – Messages, here with us -, you will surely have seen a strange message in the chat in case the user is armed with the iOS device sent a reaction to a message.

iMessage reactions soon on Google Messages

iMessage’s reactions to Google Messages don’t work as they should, and we don’t mind that, but a look at Google’s application code reveals that the Mountain View giant is working on a clever way to make integration more user friendly.

Version 10.7 of Google Messages, in fact, contains a specific string of code that refers to the possibility of showing the reactions sent by an iPhone as an emoji:

Show iPhone reactions as emoji

Although it is not yet possible to better interpret the term classification, the 9to5google team assumes this type of operation: if a user with an iPhone sends a reaction to a message, Google Messages will try to match it to a specific message sent in chat by entering its emoji below it.

Reminder For Birthdays

Another interesting feature discovered within the Google Messages beta is birthday reminders. The string Wish them a Happy Birthday! chooses a new banner shown in chat to send birthday wishes to a person in the group, evidently retrieving the information of the date of birth from Google Contacts. Furthermore, users will be able to publish this GIF in chat for a nice and lively greeting.
