Microsoft admits Windows 11 blue screen/app crash error has been tested and repaired

Recently, Microsoft admitted that there are two critical errors in the Windows 11 system that can cause blue screens and application crashes. These two errors were first discovered during the Patch Tuesday event in November this year, and currently, Windows 10/11 systems are affected.

On the original known issues page, Microsoft officials explained that a bug in the recent update of Windows 11 would cause the Microsoft Installer (MSI) to fail. Microsoft’s findings indicate that applications known to be affected include Kaspersky’s security solutions. If your device is affected, some applications may not be able to open.

The app crashes only when you apply an update to the affected app or try to fix it using Windows Settings or the troubleshooter. Microsoft previously stated that they are working on a repair, and if the application crashes without an error message, it is recommended that users reinstall their application.

Fortunately, Microsoft has now developed a new repair method, as part of Windows 11 Build 22000.348 (KB5007262), which is rolling out to beta and Release Preview channel testers. According to the release notes, this patch contains a fix for a problem that may prevent the application from opening after users update or fix it using the Microsoft Installer (MSI). The fix is currently only available to testers, but it should be released in the production channel as part of the next optional update.
