Microsoft released the public preview version of the Azure Confidential Computing Virtual Machine DCsv3

According to Intel official news, Microsoft recently released the public preview version of the latest Azure confidential computing virtual machine DCsv3. The virtual machine uses the third-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor and Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX). This virtual machine can run enterprise-level loads with greater memory requirements than before and has multiple technologies to protect data.

Officials said that the latest Azure confidential computing virtual machine enclave page cache has been increased by 1500 times, and can support a trusted execution environment with up to 256GB of memory to handle workloads that require a lot of memory.

Microsoft’s newly released DCsv3 instance is also equipped with Intel Full Memory Encryption-Multiple Key ( Intel® TME-MK ) technology. This technology can encrypt all system memory and provide enhanced protection against a certain series of physical attacks.

This technology allows Azure to encrypt the memory space of each virtual machine through a specific and unique key protected by hardware. So as to better protect and isolate each virtual machine on the physical node. In addition, this additional function does not need to modify the code of the guest virtual machine software and is turned on by default.

Microsoft has also announced that its latest general-purpose computing instance DV5 and EV5 will be fully available. Both of these instances are equipped with the third-generation Intel Xeon Scalable, the processor’s built-in cryptographic operation hardware acceleration function, which can reduce the impact on performance due to encryption operations that are needed everywhere.

In terms of actual effect, the online transaction processing volume of enterprises can be increased by up to 1.39 times, and the insight speed of data warehouse load can be increased by up to 1.27 times.
