According to a report, although it has applied to bring AirPower to the market, Apple still intends to create a multi-device charger, and its vision goes beyond the existing induction-based wireless charging. Apple’s AirPower promises to provide users with a single charging board that can simultaneously provide power for AirPods, Apple Watch and iPhone. Although the company failed in its attempts to restore the project and produced a less ambitious version, Apple is still keen on the concept.
According to the latest Power On newsletter written by Mark Gurman for Bloomberg, Apple is still working on the idea of a charger that can charge multiple items at the same time. Although MagSafe Duo technically meets this requirement, it is actually a combination of two different types of chargers. Apple still hopes to get rid of this idea and only adopt one system.

Compared with Qi or MagSafe style charging, Apple hopes to provide power without the hardware being close to the charger, so that it can work in both short and long distances. Gurman also proposed that Apple’s system can achieve reverse wireless charging, that is, All Apple’s main devices can charge each other. For example, the iPad can provide charging for nearby iPhones, AirPods cases, or Apple Watches, so that power can be shared and the device can stay charged while in the bag.
The publication made a similar report as early as June. Since then, Apple has obtained a patent for a “wireless power supply system with device motion detection function”, and an unfinished prototype of AirPower has been cancelled. Be shown in the video.
