Battlefield 2042 is in crisis, suffering a hemorrhage of players

DICE and Electronic Arts have been releasing the new Battlefield 2042 for a few weeks now, and unfortunately, the title doesn’t seem to be performing well. After a series of bugs and technical issues, players are now mass abandoning the new chapter of the FPS. As if this were not enough, on Metacritic the title is one of the worst-rated by users, quickly becoming the worst iteration of the franchise in terms of votes.

As you can see on Steam DB, the maximum number of simultaneous players of Battlefield 2042 reached in the last 24 hours was 34,005. While that’s a very high number of players, the figure signals a drastic drop from the game’s peak of 105,397 on launch day. It’s also true that losing players after a game’s release is pretty normal for most titles, but what’s anomalous in the case of Battlefield is how quickly this happened.

As the True Achievements website also points out, only 43% of Xbox players have managed to reach level 15 in Battlefield 2042, which can easily be achieved in a couple of days of play. As for level 25, only 22% of players managed to reach it. Things are a little better on the PlayStation platform, where 36% of players, to date, have unlocked the Trophy for reaching level 25.

Currently, DICE has already announced that in December Battlefield 2042 will receive a huge patch that will correct many problems and add a number of new features. We hope that this big addition will bring back many of the players who are already tired with the new FPS.
