Edge 97 Beta channel introduced new features

After the release of the stable version of Edge 96 last month, Edge 97 began to enter the Beta channel today. The main new feature introduced by Edge 97 is Citations, which aims to help students better manage and generate citations from academic online sources in the correct format, such as APA, MLA, and Chicago.

Citations have now been integrated into the Edge browser’s collection function and need to be opened manually. Currently, automatic extraction and creation of citations only support specific academic websites and research journals, but Edge Insider can manually add required information to generate citations on unsupported websites.

Microsoft Edge 97 has also improved multiple profile preferences, adding an option to use the current work and school accounts in the current Edge profile to log in to the website when multiple works or school accounts are logged in on a device. This feature can be turned on and off in the settings/profile preferences.

Finally, Microsoft Edge 97 will allow users to verify the signature of PDF files directly from the browser. For Mac users, this version also adds support for Microsoft’s endpoint data loss prevention (DLP) policy enforcement on macOS.
