Blizzard fires 12 Call of Duty Warzone software testers and employees on strike to protest

On Monday, the developers of Call of Duty Warzone studio Raven Software staged a strike to protest Activision Blizzard’s layoff plan. Last Friday, a source said that Raven’s parent company Activision suddenly informed 12 QA employees that their labor contracts will be terminated on January 28 next year.

Raven Studio issued a statement on this: Our software testing team and other employees put forward a single request. If it cannot be met, we will choose to strike. Every member of the software testing team, including those who have been dismissed, must receive a Full-time position.

In 1997, Activision acquired Raven Software. This Wisconsin-based studio has produced Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Employees said that the software testing team is mainly responsible for Call of Duty: War Zone.

The workers said that before the layoffs, the management told them that the reform of the department was coming, and then the workers saw that the QA staff was fired. More than 30% of the team has been eliminated. According to reports, the remaining employees are expected to earn an extra $1.50 per hour, with bonuses and more benefits.
