According to the latest reports, Microsoft may have abandoned its plan to provide Microsoft Launcher updates on Surface Duo and Surface Duo 2 through monthly security updates. The Microsoft Launcher on the original Surface Duo has just received a major update, making it visually reach the level of the new Surface Duo 2.
Now, this new Microsoft launcher version is 6.211102.0.1017440, bringing some of the visual design of Surface Duo 2 to Surface Duo 1. This includes a new application drawing, which now has more rounded corners and a grab bar at the top. Even “Your Profile” has been updated, with more transparency and rounded effects, and the elements come from the modern design in Windows 11.
The official update log of Microsoft is as follows:
- The feed and overall design of the launcher have been updated.
- The experience of the news source has been enhanced.
- The switching between work and personal apps has been improved.
- Additional filtering options can now be used to improve the search.
- Other known bugs were fixed and improvements were made.
We are still waiting for Surface Duo to be upgraded to Android 11. Microsoft previously promised to push it before the end of this year. However, there are less than 15 days left in 2021, and Microsoft still has no notice.
